We are a small animal practice in Hampshire, first established in 1965. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open six days a week and have access to 24-hour emergency care. For your added convenience, there’s free parking for clients at the practice.
Barbara qualified from University College Dublin in 1996, and after a brief spell of large animal practice in rural Ireland, she came to England in 1998. After working in Ipswich and as a locum for a few years (including at Alver) Barbara settled in Fareham in 2005. She enjoys all aspects of vet work, but has developed a keen interest in eyes and obtained her ESVPS certificate in ophthalmology in 2011. She loves being able to get to know our clients and pets, and enjoys seeing them get better. Barbara became clinical director in 2015, and is enjoying the new challenges this role brings.
Andres Alvarez Fernandez MRCVS
Andres qualified from Leon University in 2012, after he moved to UK where has been working in the North before joining Alver in 2016. Andres enjoys all areas with special interest in small animal medicine. He lives with his two cats Oreo and Flecha, enjoys countryside walks and photography.
Brosna Bergin MVB MRCVS
Brosna qualified from University College Dublin in 2014. She started working for Alver Veterinary Group in 2014 and has really enjoyed working with such a great team. Brosna is working towards a certificate in feline internal medicine. Since moving here Brosna has acquired an elderly cat and a taste for hiking around the lovely English countryside.
Irena Cacicedo Jaroszynska MSc MRCVS
Irena joined Alver Veterinary Group in 2016. She graduated in Madrid in the summer of 2016, after being a veterinary nurse for nine years. Irena qualified in the UK with her BSc in veterinary nursing and practice management. She also completed her MSc at Edinburgh University. Irena has worked throughout the UK including places as north as Inverness and as south as Jersey. She has also volunteered in animal projects and veterinary practices in Namibia, Thailand and Spain. In her free time Irena enjoys travelling, playing tennis and running. She also loves walking with her dog Zeus.
Talia Ciccognani DVM MRCVS
Talia qualified in Milan, Italy in 1999. After working for several years in Italy and France, Talia moved to England in 2008. She has completed a certificate in small animal medicine and her main interests are geriatric and feline medicine. Talia lives with her French husband, a Rumanian ex-stray dog, an old Italian cat and her neighbour’s cat. In her spare time Talia likes walking, travelling, reading and when she can, does charity jobs (abroad or for the RSPCA).
Cristina Iglesias Sanchez MRCVS
Cristina qualified from Leon University in 2013. She worked in different small animal private practices in the UK, before joining Alver Vets in 2017. Cristina is working towards a certificate in small animal surgery as she finds this part of the job very interesting. She enjoys hiking, travelling and spending time with her two cats.
Jolanta Pastuszek DVM GPCert(DI) MRCVS
Jolanta qualified in May 2005 from veterinary school in Warsaw, Poland. In June 2005 she started a year’s internship at Fitzpatrick Referrals where she had the pleasure of working with Noel Fitzpatrick, and seeing lots of interesting orthopaedic and neurology cases. Jolanta decided to move to first opinion practice afterwards to have the opportunity to discover a wide range of veterinary disciplines which she has enjoyed since then. Jolanta likes all aspects of veterinary medicine and has a special interest in diagnostic imaging. She also very much enjoys soft tissue surgery. Jolanta has worked for Alver Veterinary Group since 2012.
Ana Perez Castro DVM MRCVS
Ana joined Alver Vets in 2015. She is a Spanish vet that qualified in 2008 in her hometown Zaragoza. She then stayed there at university doing a two year internship qualifying further on her area of interest that is small animal medicine and surgery. In 2010 Ana moved to England to continue developing her skills, and completed a year’s internship in a referral practice in Vets Now Swindon. She then moved into private practice and has been working in Hampshire since. Ana enjoys general practice and has a soft spot for cats as a proud owner of a lovely rescue cat. In her free time she enjoys Latin dances, rock climbing and a nice cuddle with her cat, Kitty Princess.
