We do most of our dentals in Gosport as we have a dental X-ray machine here with digital processing, allowing us to give your pets’ teeth the best care.

When we do a dental we need to administer a general anesthetic (as most of our pets won’t “open wide” for us). We clean the teeth thoroughly and take X-rays to allow us to evaluate the roots. A large proportion of the tooth is below the gum line, so like human dentists, these X-rays allow us to look at the whole tooth.

We then proceed to remove any decayed teeth; we sometimes need to elevate a “flap” of the gum to allow us to completely remove the root. If we do this, your pet will have some stitches in their mouth. These are absorbable and will dissolve over a few weeks.
